The Supreme Court today gave a week time to the government to finalise the rules determining the discipline of lower court judges.

The apex court ordered the government to issue a gadget notification after finalising the rule and submit it to this court in seven days.

An eight member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order during hearing the Mazdar Hossain case, known as judiciary separation case.

Earlier the Supreme Court several times ordered the government to finalise the rules.

On November 7, the apex court expressed dissatisfaction at the government for not finalising the rule.
