Gazipur boat capsize: Death toll rises to 5

Another body was recovered from the Sitalakhya river this morning, raising the death toll to five in yesterday's boat capsize near Kapasia of Gazipur.

The deceased was identified as Kaiyum, 17, son of Tara Miah of Narsingdi's Shibpur upazila, reports our correspondent.

Divers found the body around 5:00am today, Dulal Miah, sub-inspector of Kapasia Police Station, told The Daily Star.

Earlier, four people, including a woman, drowned after a boat sank in the Shitalakkhya river near Kapasia of Gazipur yesterday.

The boat, which was carrying some 14 to 15 passengers, had come from Shibpur. It sank near Taraganj ghat (terminal) of Kapasia around 6:30pm yesterday, police said.
