Four cops suspended

Four policemen including an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) in the district have been suspended for their negligence in duty that enabled the flight of a murder case accused from a bus in Savar on Tuesday.

The Natore superintendent of police suspended the accused policemen -- ASI Ehtesham Hossain and constables Rashedul Islam, Abul Kalam and Mizanur Rahman, on Wednesday night, said Baki Billah, inspector of Natore Police Lines.

Shamim Hossain, 22, a murder accused, sneaked off a passenger bus from the custody of the four policemen when the vehicle carrying them reached Savar's Amin Bazar on Tuesday. Shamim was being transferred to Savar jail from Natore.
