Four accused sent to jail in Patuakhali
A court yesterday sent four accused, arrested from the capital on Sunday night, to jail in a case for killing Maklukur Rahman Murad, a doctor of Gonoshasthaya Kendra Hospital.
On Sunday night, police arrested the accused from different areas in the capital. They are--Monjur Quader, an official of Gonoshasthaya Kendra Hospital in the capital, his driver Moneza Akhter, Doctor Mezbah Uddin, of the same hospital, and Golam Mostafa Nantu, owner of the building where the Galachipa Sub-centre is housed.
Police produced the arrestee before the Galachipa Upazila Judicial Magistrate's Court, seeking a five-day remand. The court fixed October 15 for hearing on the remand prayer, said Mohammad Selim, investigation officer (IO) of the case.
On December 6, 2013, Dr Murad along with a 56-member medical team went to visit a sub-centre in Golachipa upazila and went missing.
His body was found floating in a pond adjacent to the centre on December 8.
Victim's maternal uncle Asgor Ali Khan filed a murder case with Galachipa Police Station on January 21, 2014.
