Fisherman missing in Patuakhali trawler capsize

A fisherman went missing and another injured after a trawler capsized in Patuakhali’s Andharmanik river in Kalapara upazila this morning.

The missing was identified as Kawsar, 36. The injured is Md Zafor, both from Lalua union, our local correspondent reports quoting police.

Kalapara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Monirul Islam said a ferry laden with cement trucks hit the trawler near Payra port around 10:00am.

The trawler capsized with the two fishermen on board. Md Zafor was able to swim back ashore, but Kawsar remained missing since then.

A team of coast guards were conducting a drive in the river to find the missing fisherman. The ferry was seized.
