Fisherman missing as boat sinks

A fisherman went missing as a fishing boat capsized in the Gajaria river in Nalbunia area under Mehendiganj upazila of the district yesterday.

Victim Babul Gharami, 16, son of Saha Alam of the upazila was missing as off filing of this report around 6:00pm yesterday.

Another fisherman, Rubel Hossain, managed to swim ashore, said OC Ujjall Kumar Dey of Mehendiganj Police Station.

A Dhaka-bound launch from Mehendiganj carrying around 500 passengers hit the fishing boat in the morning. The boat capsized with Babul and Rubel, said the OC.
