Film actress Shimla quizzed
Film actress Shamsun Nahar Shimla was interrogated by law enforcers today in a case filed against her former husband Polash Ahmed who allegedly attempted to hijack a plane of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Chattogram’s airport on February 24.
Shimla was interrogated for three and half hours since 10:00am in the port city’s Dampara CMP Police Lines, our Chattogram correspondent reports quoting police.
Inspector Rajesh Barua of Counter-Terrorism unit of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) interrogated her in connection with the case.
Rajesh, also investigation officer of the case, said, “During the interrogation, Shimla provided some information, those have already matched with our findings in this regard. We will further verify her information”.
Earlier on May 22, the IO sent an official letter to Shimla requesting her to give her statement in connection with the case.
After being interrogated, Shimla told reporters: “As I divorced him (Polash) before the plane hijacking attempt, I could not say nothing about him.”
Shimla got married with Polash Ahmed on March 6 last year and divorced him on November 11, in the same year.
Inspector Rajesh said the law enforcers have so far recorded statements of a total of 42 persons including Shimla and five passengers of the Biman aircraft.
Polash, apparently tried to hijack a Boeing 737-800 aircraft of Biman Bangladesh, forcing an emergency landing at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram on February 24.
All 148 passengers and cabin crew were evacuated safely while Polash was killed in an eight-minute operation by the members of the army’s para-commando unit.
Debabrata Sarker, technology assistant of the airport filed the case with Patenga Police Station on February 25 night where he said that the suspect was seen carrying suspicious-looking objects during the hijack bid 15 minutes after the plane took off from Dhaka.
