Ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia route resume after 12 hours
Ferry services on the key Paturia-Daulatdia route resumed 12 hours after suspension due to dense fog.
Ferry services resumed around 10:00am when the fog started to clear, our Manikganj correspondent reports, quoting Deputy Director General of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation's Paturia terminal.
BIWTC suspended the ferry services around 10:00pm yesterday due to dense fog to avert accident, he said.
Four ferries were forced to anchor in the middle of the Padma river, failing to follow the signal amid thick fog, the BIWTC official said.
Over 500 vehicles, including more than 300 goods-laden ones, got stuck at the Paturia side following the suspension of the ferry services.
After the ferry services resumed, vehicles carrying passengers are being allowed to cross the river on priority basis.
