Farmer dies in boat capsize

A farmer died as a boat capsized in the River Padma in Ishwardi upazila yesterday.

The deceased was Tarikul Islam, 45, son of Afsar Ali of Shahpur village.

Locals said when six farmers were returning home by a boat in the morning, it suddenly capsized in the river. Tarikul went missing.

However, five other farmers managed to swim ashore, said Md Anisul Haque Mollah, chairman of Lakhhmikunda Union Parishad.

At noon, firefighters recovered the body.
