Factory owner to be sued: Home minister

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said that a case will be lodged against the owner of the factory, where at least 24 people were killed in a boiler blast.

"Case will be lodged against the factory owner on the basis of the investigation," Kamal told journalists after visiting Tampaco Foils Limited in Tongi of Gazipur this afternoon.

The minister also criticised the owner of the factory for keeping chemical substances in the factory without taking any proper protection.

Around 74 people, mostly workers, were also injured in the incident. They were undergoing treatment at different hospitals including Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Twenty units of firefighters were trying to douse the fire triggered by the explosion when the report was filed around 7:00pm, reports our correspondent covering the incident.
