End of dream of a poor family
Criminals brutally killed a Class VII student allegedly to snatch his rickshaw-van and mobile set.
The victim Md Emon Hossain, 13, son of Ayan Uddin of Katian village in Sujanagar upazila under the district, read at Kadoa High School in the upazila.
Police recovered the body from a field in Vitbila road area of Khatupara village under the upazila around 7:30am yesterday.
"It seems criminals strangled the boy dead to snatch a rickshaw-van and mobile from his possession. Police started investigation to find out the culprits," said Md Nur Islam, officer-in-charge of Sujanagar Police Station.
Victim's father Ayen Uddin said his son occasionally pulled rickshaw-van to earn money for maintaining his schooling cost.
"He went out of the house with the van of my elder son at about 7:00pm on Wednesday. Afterwards, he went missing and his cell phone remained off."
"Emon had a dream to overcome poverty through education. But the killers destroyed his dream and the dream of our poor family as well," said a lamenting Ayen.
Demanding punishment of the killers, teachers and students of Kodaoa High School aaccompanied by locals brought out a protest procession at Kadoa village yesterday.
"Emon was a brilliant student. He attended classes regularly beside he pulled van for earning amount for his family and his educational expenditure too. We demand to find out the real culprits and nab them for the sake of justice," Md Abu Bakkar, assistant headmaster of Kadoa High School told this correspondent over phone.
