Early marriage bid foiled

A schoolgirl was saved from underage marriage following timely intervention of police in Sadar upazila under the district yesterday.

The tenth grader, 14, daughter of Isahak Ali of Charimagura village in Sadar upazila, was going to be married with Arif, 20, of Madhupur Bazar area in Tangail district, at night, police said.

On information, the law enforcers rushed to the spot and foiled the marriage, said Saiful Islam, assistant sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station.
