Driver punched to death

An auto-rickshaw driver was killed when he was punched by a passerby over a trifling matter at Paduar Bazar in Sadar Dakkhin upazila of the district yesterday. The deceased is Ariful Islam, 30, son of Abdul Khalek in Barura upazila. Prashanto Pal, officer-in-charge of Sadar Dakkhin Police Station, said Ariful had an altercation with Abul Hossain, a tractor driver, over parking his auto-rickshaw on the road around 11:45am. At one stage of altercation, Abul Hossain punched Ariful twice, leaving him unconscious. He was rushed to Comilla Medical College Hospital where the attending doctors declared him dead. On information, police rushed in and arrested Abul Hossain.
