DoE fines 12 brick kilns Tk 15 lakh for polluting environment

Department of Environment (DoE) Chattogram region fined 12 brick kilns Tk 15 lakh over different violations of the environment law.

The fine was imposed on them after a hearing at DoE Khulshi office today.

Mohammad Moazzom Hossain, director of DoE Chattogram region told The Daily Star that 12 brick kilns from Cox's Bazar Ramu upazila were fined for not renewing their license.

Many were also using 120-feet drum chimney which further pollutes air, he added.
