Diplomatic ties with Pakistan to stay: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ruled out any possibility of severing diplomatic ties with Pakistan in the purview of row over war crimes trials.

In response to a query regarding Pakistan's latest response to execution of a war criminal, the premier said: "Pakistan is a defeated force. It doesn't matter what they say about our internal affairs."

"This little row is nothing that big. Our ties will continue and protests as well if they make such statements," Prime Minister Hasina said.

And regarding Bangladesh's stance on South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc), PM Hasina said she will not take an independent stand on it.

She was speaking to journalists to brief on her two-week visit to UN and Canada.

The head of the government received the UN-women 'Planet 50-50 Champion' and Global Partnership Forum 'Agent of Change Award' during the visit – which she devoted to the people of Bangladesh.
