Dense fog disrupts ferry service

Ferry services on Shimulia-Kawrakandi route in the Padma River resumed after four hours of disruption caused by dense fog yesterday morning. Shekhar Chandra Roy, assistant manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation at Shimulia ghat, said they kept suspended ferry services and plying of the water vessels from 5:00am to 9:15am due to blurred visibility for dense fog. Five ferries stayed motionless in the mid-river, as thick fog enveloped the area. Several hundred vehicles were kept waiting on both sides of the river for crossing. However, ferry services resumed around 9:15am as fog disappeared with the sunlight getting brighter.
