College student killed in road accident in Jatrabari, another injured

A college student was killed and another was injured when a truck hit their motorcycle in Dhaka's Jatrabari area this morning.

The dead was identified as Iftekhar Ifty (18), a second-year HSC student of Rajarbagh Police Line School and College.

His friend Ananta Barua, a student of Notre Dame College, was receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for his wounds on both legs and hands at the time of filing this report.

The accident took place when the two friends went outside with a motorcycle in the morning. Ifty, a novice, was piloting the bike when it collided head-on with a truck around 10:00am, leaving two injured, said Mazharul Islam, officer-in-charge of Jatrabari Police Station.

The two were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared Ifty dead around 11:00am, the OC said, adding that police seized the truck but its driver managed to flee.
