Burnt woman fighting for life
A housewife, severely burnt allegedly by her husband and in laws over family issues in Gaibandha Sadar upazila on Tuesday, in fighting for life a Rangpur Medical College.
Quitting the 22-year-old victim, Inspector of Gaibandha Sadar Police Station Mujibur Rahman said during an altercation over different family issues the husband and mother-in-law of Sharmin Akhtar set her afire around 1:00pm on Tuesday.
Hearing the news after nearly eight hours of the incident, Sharmin's parents rushed to her in-laws' house around 9:00pm, rescued her with 70 burn injuries and took her to Gaibandha General Hospital. She was later shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital the same night as her condition deteriorated.
Meanwhile, following a case filed by Sharmin's father Shafiqul Islam with Gaibandha Sadar Police Station, police detained victim's husband Korban Ali, 25, and mother-in-law Kulsum Begum from their house yesterday evening.
