Bullet-hit body found

Police recovered the bullet-hit body of a suspected robber in Madaripur's Rajoir upazila yesterday.

The deceased, Ujjal Sheikh, 45, son of Amir Sheikh, was a resident of Gopalganj's Muksudpur upazila.

Police, however, claimed that Ujjal was an active member of a robbers' gang and he might have been murder due to internal feud among the gang members.

Officer in Charge (OC) (investigation) of Rajoir Police Station Anwar Hossain said villagers spotted Ujjal's bullet-hit body on the bank of a pond in Hasankandi area around 8:00am and informed the police, who recovered the body and sent it to Madaripur General Hospital for autopsy.

Meanwhile, deceased's uncle Samad Sheikh alleged that plain cloth police picked-up Ujjal from his house on Saturday.

Ujjal was accused in at least seven cases, including for robbery and posing firearms, filed with different police stations under Gopalganj, Munshiganj and Madaripur, the OC added.
