BSD road march to protest Indian river project
Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD-Marx) held a protest meeting at the district Shaheed Minar yesterday as part of their three-day Dhaka-Kurigram road march programme protesting the river-linking project of India.
The road march started from National Press Club premises on October 2 and will end in Kurigram on October 5. It will cover Bogra, Gaibandha, Rangpur and Kurigram.
Gaibandha BSD convener Ahsanul Habib Sayed presided over the meeting.
The speakers said India has undertaken a project to connect 38 rivers through 30 connecting canals by diverting the Brahmaputra and Ganga rivers to drought prone areas in India.
They called upon all to raise their voices in protest against the Indian project and save Bangladesh from desertification.
