BRTC driver held on rape charge

Police arrested a driver of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) of Bogra depot in the district town yesterday in a case for violating a female employee of the depot.

The arrestee is Abul Bashar, 38, son of Rafiqul Islam of Kantabazar of Faridganj under Chandpur district. He currently lives in Khandar area of Bogra town.

According to the case statement, the victim is daughter of a late BRTC driver under the depot.

After the demise of her father, the depot authorities appointed her as a computer operator on temporary basis.

The accused developed a relationship with the staff. On February 9, he lured her into a house in Khandar area of the town and raped her. Later, a case was filed.
