Biman’s first Hajj flight off to Jeddah
The first batch of pilgrims has departed Dhaka this morning off to Saudi Arabia to perform hajj – the largest religious congregation of the Muslims.
A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying 401 passengers departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 8:10am. Two more flights will leave today.
Civil Aviation Minister Rashed Khan Menon and Religious Affairs Minister Matiur Rahman bade farewell to the pilgrims at the airport.
Khan Mosharraf Hossain, general manager (public relations) of Biman, told The Daily Star that two more flights – at 12:30pm and 11:55pm – will depart for Jeddah today.
Bangladesh Biman will carry a total 51,000 hajjis in their regular and hajj-flight operation while the remaining of the 1,01,700 pilgrims will be ferried by Saudi Airlines.
