B’baria mayhem: 8 suspects on 3-day remand

A Brahmanbaria court today placed eight suspects on a three-day remand in a case filed in connection with the attacks on Hindu minorities and temples in Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria on October 30.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court passed the order after they were produced before it, court inspector Mahbubur Rahman told The Daily Star.

The eight were arrested immediately after the religious zealots carried out the atrocities on the Hindu minorities and their temples in Nasirnagar Sadar Union.

Around 150-200 people attacked at least five temples and ransacked about a hundred houses in an attack started from a Facebook post.

Earlier, Rasraj Dash, a Hindu youth who allegedly posted the "anti Islamic element" on social media, was granted taken in a five-day remand.
