Attack on Hindus: Rasraj remanded

Star Online Report

A Brahmanbaria court today granted a five-day remand for Rasraj Das, who was detained after Sunday's attacks on Hindu community in Nasirnagar in the district.

The court granted the remand after Mohiuddin Ahmed, a sub-inspector of Nasirnagar Police Station, produced him before the court seeking a seven-day remand.

The two-hour long mayhem was blamed on a Facebook post from the account of Rasraj, 27.

The youth, a fisherman by profession, is now in jail.

Zealots attacked at least five temples and vandalised about 100 Hindu houses in Nasirnagar over a Facebook post.

National Human Rights Commission and leaders of minority groups have said the attack was deliberate and aimed to drive away the Hindu people from their land.
