Arson cases: Ex-BNP MP sent to jail on surrender

A Dhaka court rejected the bail petition of former BNP lawmaker Salahuddin Ahmed and sent him to jail after he surrendered before it today in 15 arson cases.

Metropolitan Magistrate Golam Nabi passed the order after Salahuddin's lawyer moved the bail petition.

The former lawmaker from Demra was accused in 15 arson attack cases filed with Jatrabari, Kadamtali, Shyampur and Gendaria police stations in January, February and March last year during the nonstop movement enforced by BNP-led 20-party alliance.
