Arms trader held with 8 pistols, 140 bullets

Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested an arms trader and seized eight foreign-made pistols, 16 magazines and 140 bullets from his possession in Shibganj upazila of the district yesterday.

The arrestee, Mohammad Alauddin, 50, is from Chamatola village in the upazila.

Lt Col Mahabub Alam, commanding officer (CO) of Rab-5 in Rajshahi, said a team of the elite force, acting on a tip-off, raided Chawk Ghorapakhia village and arrested Alauddin with the arma and ammunition while he was going to Chapainawabganj town from Shibganj riding a bicycle around 8:15am.
