Agitation for smooth power supply

Speakers at a meeting in front of Gaibandha Press Club yesterday urged the authorities concerned to ensure smooth power supply and take immediate step to stop the 'ghost' bills for power consumption.

Local people under the banner of 'Bidyut Grahak O Sech Pump Malik Samity' also threatened to go for a tougher agitation if their demands are not met immediately.

Irrigation pump owners are reluctant to run their power pumps during the current boro season in fear of getting 'ghost bills'.
