8 trawlers with 100 missing in Bay

At least eight fishing trawlers with some 100 fishermen aboard went missing in the Bay in Kuakata area under Kalapara upazila as high waves, triggered a by sudden storm, hit the trawlers yesterday.
The missing trawlers are FB Tamanna, FB Bismillah, FB Al Ruman, FB Ma-Moni, FB Sadia, FB Maliha, FB Saleha and FB Khadija.
The incident took place when the victims were catching fish in the Bay during a storm, said Ansar Mollah, president of Alipur Aratder (wholesaler).
They are yet to send any team to search the missing trawlers as the sea is very rough, he said, adding that the victims hail from different areas in the upazila. 
Meanwhile, 16 fishermen, who went missing in trawler capsize, were rescued from the Bay in Laldiar char area under Taltali upazila of Barguna the same day.  
Nur Jamal, a fisherman of Tetulbaria village in the upazila, said three trawlers carrying the 16 capsized in the Bay during a storm around 2:00pm.
Later, other fishermen rescued the victims from the water, said Mostafa Chowdhury, president of Barguna Fishing Trawlers Owners' Association. 
Local union parishad member Md Selim Mia said a trawler has already been sent to search for the missing trawlers.
