7 kg gold seized at border area in Jashore
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 60 gold bars, weighing seven kg, from Chougachha upazila of Jashore early today.
Lt Col Selim Reza, commanding officer of BGB battalion 49, said a patrolling team of BGB found the gold in an abandoned state in Shahjadpur border area in the early hours and seized those.
The smugglers managed to flee the scene, sensing the presence of the BGB team, our Benapole correspondent reports, quoting the commanding officer.
The market price of the gold is Tk 4.96 crore, said Lt Col Selim Reza, adding that a case was filed with Chougachha Police Station in this connection.
