6 brick kilns among 13 businesses fined Tk 15.16 lakh in Ctg

Department of Environment (DoE) Chattogram region fined 13 businesses, including six brick kilns, Tk 15.16 lakh today for violation of DoE's conditions.

The fine was imposed after a hearing at DoE office at the port city's Khulsi area.

Mohammad Moazzom Hossain, director of DoE Chattogram region, told The Daily Star that six brick kilns were fined a total of Tk 10.6 lakh for not renewing their licenses while S H Composit Textile was fined Tk 3 lakh for filling up a canal at Anwara upazila.

Apart from this, six other businesses including a diagnostic centre, a chemical industry were find Tk 1.56 lakh, he added.
