5 shops gutted in Tangail fire
Five shops were gutted and several others damaged partially in a fire which broke out at a bazaar in Mirzapur upazila of Tangail this evening.
The flame immediately spread to nearby shops and engulfed those, our Tangail correspondent reports, quoting locals.
On information, five units of fire fighters rushed to the spot and doused the flame around 8:30pm, said Rezaul Karim, assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence in Tangail.
The fire might have start from an oil lorry, he said.
Several traders of the market said five shops and a private office of the chairman of Jamurki union parishad were burnt to ashes in the fire.
The losses might have crossed more than Tk one crore, they added.
