5 Illegal brick kilns fined

A mobile court during a drive on Saturday fined five illegal brick kilns Tk 16.5 lakh in Kurigram's Rajibpur upazila.

Assistant Commissioner Mahmudul Hasan, also executive magistrate of Kurigram deputy commissioner's office, conducted the drive and imposed the fine for running business without licenses.

The brick kilns-- ADB brick kiln, MAB brick kiln, Number One brick kiln, AHB brick kiln and '777' brick kiln--were fined under Brick Manufacturing and Kiln Installation Control Act 2013, he said.

He said the aforementioned brick kilns were fined for illegally manufacturing bricks by procuring the top soil from agricultural land.
