5 hurt in Khagrachhari gas cylinder blast

Five people, including two policemen, suffered burn injuries as a gas cylinder exploded at the outer stadium in Khagrachhari town this morning during a Victory Day programme.

The injured were: two policemen Md Shahin and Md Ismail, Birendra Tripura, an official of Matiranga land office, Tulsi Rani, owner of the gas cylinder and Pallab Chowdhury, a minor boy.

When the gas cylinder owner was inflating balloons using the gas cylinder, it blew up with a big bang, leaving five people injured, said Md Rais Uddin, additional superintendent of Khagrachhari Police.

Three critically injured people were taken to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital while two others to Khagrachhari Adhunik Sadar Hospital.
