5 cops among 7 killed in Bogra road crash

Seven people including five policemen were killed in a collision between two trucks on the Dhaka-Bogra highway in Sherpur upazila of Bogra early today.
More than five people were also injured in the incident in Mohipur area around 1:00am, police said.
The dead police personnel are Shajahan, 35, Pronob, 32, Alamgir, 33, Shamsul, 30, Shohel, 32, – all stationed in Kurigram district. One of the two others was sweeper of the police department Shymol, 42, while identity of another was not found immediately.
Of the injured, critically injured Moinul Islam, a sub-inspector, was shifted to Dhaka for better treatment, our Bogra correspondent reports quoting Tobarok Ullah, superintendent of police (SP) of Kurigram.

The accident took place when a Bogra-bound fertiliser-laden truck collided head-on with another truck carrying nine policemen, the police official said.
Police and fire fighters rushed to the spot and rescued the injured six and took them to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital (SZMCH) in the district, Gaziur Rahman, senior ASP (B Circle and Media) of the district told the correspondent.  
Later, an injured police constable died at the hospital, the ASP added.
Monoar Hossain, 25, Rubel Mia, 27, both constables, were admitted at the SZMCH.
Rest injured are two drivers and a helper of the vehicles, the correspondent said.
