3 ‘militants’ held in Keraniganj

Law enforcers claimed to have arrested three members of banned militant outfit “Allahr Dal” in Keraniganj today.

The arrestees were identified as Abdullah Al Hasnat alias Kollol, 39, controller of Allahr Dal of Khulna and Barishal divisions; Aminul Islam alias Shetu, 30, deputy Nayek of the outfit in Satkhira and Bagerhat, and Fazle Karim alias Shohag, 32, divisional Nayek of Khulna, said MM Hasanul Jahid, superintendent of police (Intelligence) of Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) of Bangladesh Police.

Based on a tip-off that a group of people were spreading extremist ideology, a team of ATU conducted a drive in Jame Mosque area of Begunbari village around 6:30 am, said the official.

During primary investigation, the arrestees confessed that they were conducting a meeting in order to make plans to ruin the integrity, solidarity and public safety in the country.
