3 school kids drown

Three schoolchildren drowned while they were bathing in a pond near their houses at Taluk Mritinga village of Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila yesterday. They were identified as Mim Akhter,10, a Class V student, her younger sister Kusum Akhter, 9, a Class IV student and daughters of Mintu Miah; and their neighbour Nayeem Hossain, 8, a Class IV student, and son of Iqbal Hossain. They were students of Taluk Mritinga Government Primary School at the village. On information, a team from Lalmonirhat fire department rescued the three children and sent them to the Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared them dead.
