3 killed in Mymensingh road crash
Three persons were killed and seven injured when a pick-up van ran them over on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh early today.
The deceased are Amena Khatun, 27, and Ashraf Uddin, 25, a worker and a security guard of Russel Spinning Mills respectively and a pedestrian, Anwar Sikder Shikder, 22. They are all from Kathali area in the upazila, police said.
Ashraf and Anwar died on the spot and eight others were injured seriously when a Mymensingh bound pick-up van crushed them at Kathali while they were waiting beside the road to get vehicles for their different destinations around 6:00am.
The injured persons were admitted at Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex where Amena succumbed to her injuries, said Md Johirul Islam, in-charge of Bhaluka Highway Police.
Police seized the vehicle but its driver managed to flee the scene. A case was lodged with the local police station against the absconding driver.
