3 fishermen electrocuted in Chapainawabganj

At least three fishermen were electrocuted and two injured while fishing at a local water body in Gomostapur upazila of Chapainawabganj last night.

The deceased are Asadul Haque, 22, son of Alkes Ali, Abdul Bashir, 18, son of Ayesuddin, and Manirul Islam, 16, son of Azizul Haque of Bivison village.
The boat, carrying the fishermen, came in contact with live electric wire in Moishala beel around 11:30pm, our correspondent reports quoting Mamunur Rashid, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) of Gomostapur circle.

"Asadul, Bashir and Amirul died on the spot and two others -- Abdullah, 19 and Nabiur, 30, -- got injured and fell in the water body," the ASP added.

The injured were rescued by the locals who took them to their respective houses at midnight.
