3 children killed as fire breaks out at Cox’s bazar house

Three siblings were killed as a fire broke out at their house in Chakaria upazila of Cox's Bazar in the early hours of today.

The deceased are Md Zahedul Islam (12), Meem Akter (10) and Mitu Moni (8), children of Zaker Hossain who is a carpenter by profession, reports our Cox's Bazar correspondent.  

Locals said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at Zaker's home in Uttar Harbang Sabanghata village around 12:00am when all the family members were sleeping.

The three siblings were sleeping in a sperate room. All family members except the trio managed to come out of the house when the fire broke out, they said.

On information, a team of fire service and civil defence rushed to the spot and doused the fire, said Chairman of Harbang union parishad Miranul Islam.

Shaker Md Zubaer, officer-in-charge of Chakaria Police Station, said a team of Harbang police outpost visited the spot and confirmed that the three siblings were burnt to death in the incident.
