3 arrested with pistol, bombs

Police arrested three criminals with a pistol and three bombs at Sangkarpasha village in Abhoynagar upazila of Jessore district on Tuesday night. The arrestees are Santo Roy, 34, son of Narayan Chandra Roy, Simanto Mallik, 24, son of Danbir Mallik, and Saddam Hossain, 26, son of Oliar Rahman. Nasir Uddin, officer-in-charge of Abhoynagar Police Station, said local people caught the trio and seized the pistol and bombs when they tried to extort money from Sheikh Asaduzaman, a former UP member. Later, the villagers handed over them to police after giving a good beating.
