28 shops gutted

At least 28 shops were gutted in a fire at Charchenga Bazar in Hatiya upazila of the district early yesterday. Locals said the fire originated at a tea stall around 2:30am and soon engulfed the adjoining shops. On information, firefighters rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after three hours of hectic efforts. The affected shop owners claimed that the loss caused by the fire could go up to Tk 2 crore.
