2 transport workers killed in Faridpur road accident

Two transport workers were killed as a Dhaka bound bus hit a pick-up truck on Dhaka-Khulna Highway in Faridpur Sadar upazila early today.

The deceased were identified as pick-up driver Islam Biswas, 30, son of Rowshan Ali Biswas; and pick-up helper Islam Biswas, 32, son of Abdul Rahim. Both hailed from Magura Sadar upazila.

Two bus passengers were also injured, Joynul Islam, sub-inspector (SI) of Karimpur Highway Police Station, confirmed.

A Dhaka bound bus of Banaful Paribahan collided head-on with a Magura bound pick-up truck at Tatultala area of the upazila around 6:30am, the SI told The Daily Star.

The pick-up driver and helper died on the spot and two passengers of the bus got injured. The injured were taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, SI added.

Police seized the bus and pick-up truck, but the bus driver fled the scene.
