2 students, 1 farmer with 1.46 lakh yaba tablets in Chattogram

Police today arrested three persons, including two students, with 1.46 lakh yaba tablets from Anwara upazila of Chattogram.

The law enforcers, in a drive, arrested them while they were taking the drugs from Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar to Chattogram.

The arrestees are Mahmudul Haque, 23, Md Ibrahim, 26, and Jahed Hossain, 25. They all hail from Teknaf.

Of them, Mahmudul and Jahed are students of Teknaf Degree College, and Ibrahim is a farmer by profession.

Addressing a press conference after the arrest, Chattogram District's Superintendent of Police SM Rashidul Haque said on information, police arrested them after intercepting two motorbikes carrying the trio on Banshkhali-Chattogram Road at Kalabibir point of Anwara in the morning.

During primary interrogation, the arrestees said the yaba tablets were scheduled to be handed over to a party at Chattogram in exchange for Tk three lakh, the SP said.

A case was lodged in this regard.
