2 Patuakhali BCL men hurt in factional clash
Two activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) have been severely injured in an attack allegedly launched on them by their rival faction in Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali.
The injured were identified as Rayhan Pahloan, 23 and Kazi Hasan, 18. Both of them are leaders of Mithaganj union unit BCL, reports our Patuakhali correspondent quoting police.
They were attacked by members of a rival BCL faction led by Rakibul, Kazi Arif and Ripon around 9:00pm on Thursday at Tegachia Bazar area, family sources said.
The attackers beat them up with sticks and hacked them with sharp weapons. Later, locals rushed to the spot to rescue the victims while the attackers managed to flee, they said.
Md Faruq Pahloan, father of Rayhan, filed a case accusing 27 persons in this regard, said Md Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kalapara Police Station.
We will take legal steps in this regard after proper investigation, the OC added.
ABM Shamsuzzaman, president of Mithaganj union unit Awami League, said that the clash took place over establishing supremacy in the area.
