2 killed in Gopalganj road crash

A woman and her six-year-old son were killed in a collision of two trucks on Dhaka-Khulna highway in Gopalganj Sadar upazila this morning.

The deceased were identified as Rubi Begum, 23, wife of Hasib Mollah, and their son Rifat Mollah, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.

According to eyewitnesses and police, the accident occurred when a running truck carrying the family crashed into a stationary truck.

Hasib Mollah, a Garments worker of Horidaspur Pashchimpara village in Sadar upazila, was heading towards Gopalganj with the family and some goods.

Hasib, who also suffered injuries in the accident, is undergoing treatment at Khulna Medical College Hospital.

Confirming the incident, sub-inspector Abdus Sobhan, in-charge of Gopinathpur police investigation center of Gopalganj, said the driver of the truck is absconding.
