2 killed, 15 injured as bus catches fire in Cumilla’s Daudkandi
At least two people were killed and 15 others injured this evening as a bus caught fire on the Dhaka-Chattogram road at Daudkandi in Cumilla.
The deceased have so far not been identified.
Among the injured, nine were sent to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, two were admitted to Daudkandi Upazila Health Complex and six were given primary treatment after the accident, reports our Cumilla correspondent quoting Daudkandi Highway Police Station Officer-in-charge Jahirul Haque.
One unit of Daudkandi Fire Service went to the scene and brought the fire under control.
"Right now, there is a seven-kilometere long traffic congestion on the highway after the incident happened. We are trying to normalise movement of vehicles at the moment," said the OC.
The fire might have originated in the gas cylinder of the bus, the OC said.
