2 JMB men get 20 yrs jail in N’ganj
A Narayanganj court today sent two operatives of the banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh to jail for 20 years in connection with a case filed under Explosive Substances Act.
The court also fined Tk 20,000 each, in default, to suffer six months more rigorous imprisonment.
The two are identified as Saiful Islam, 20 and Mahabub, 22, reports our local correspondent.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Kamrun Nahar of Special Tribunal Court-7 handed down the verdict in the presence of the two convicts.
In January 7, 2007 Rapid Action Battalion arrested Saiful from Tangail for his link with the militant outfit.
Following his confessional statement, the elite forces, on the same day, carried out a drive at Farazikanda village of Bandar area and arrested Mahabub, on the same allegation.
Later, a case was lodged with Bandar Police Station under Explosive Substances Act.
