2 held on charge of raping physically challenged girl

Police arrested two people on charge of raping a physically challenged girl at Mobarak Kathi village in Sadar upazila of Jessore district early yesterday.

The arrestees are Rashed Ali, son of Rafiqul Islam, and Shakil Hossain Russel, son of Saker Ali Morol of the village.

Ilias Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Jessore Kotwali Police Station, said law enforcers conducted a drive at the village at around 3:00am and arrested the duo on charge of raping a physically challenged girl at the village on March 3.

Father of the victim filed a case, accusing three people the following day, the OC said adding that they are trying to arrest the other accused.

Away in Gaibandha, a mobile court yesterday sentenced a youth to one year's imprisonment on charge of stalking a schoolgirl, reports our correspondent.

The arrestee is Sabuj Mia, 26, of Boali village in Gaibandha Sadar upazila.
