2 of a family killed over grazing cow

Two members of a family were killed and two others injured over grazing cow at a field in Rangamati’s Bilaichhari upazila today.

The deceased were identified as Dipankar Tanchanga, 30, and Srikanta Tanchanga, 20, residents of Bilaichhari village in the upazila.

The injured people are undergoing treatment at a local hospital, reports our local correspondent quoting police.

Quoting witnesses, Parvez Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bilaichhari Police Station, said members of the victims’ family locked into an altercation with one Laxmi Joy Marma as she always took her cows to graze at their field.

At one stage, Laxmi stabbed them with a sharp weapon, leaving four of the family injured, the OC said.

Locals rescued them and sent them to a local hospital where doctors declared Dipankar and Srikanta dead, he added.

However, Laxmi managed to flee the scene.

Police said they were trying to nab the woman.
