12 houses gutted

At least 12 houses were gutted in a fire at Sarkarpara village in Sadar upazila of the district on Saturday. Locals said the fire originated from an earthen oven of a kitchen of one Shahinur's house around 4:30pm and soon engulfed the adjacent houses. On information, firefighters rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after two hours of frantic efforts.
